Project Description

The 25,000 seats multi- functional stadium is located in Al Ain, approximately 150 kilometres east of Abu Dhabi, close to the borders of Oman. The construction of this 45,000 square meter stadium is a combination of structural steel and reinforced concrete on piled foundations with aluminium and composite external cladding and a palm bowl envelope.

The Challenge

When iTech joined the project team, the concrete works were already in process and the MEP model had to be delivered in fast-track mode to have all services fully coordinated prior to pouring of concrete being finalized.

The Solution

Intelligent, highly technical 3D virtual MEP models of the new construction and extensive infrastructure work were used in the field to help visualize and eliminate conflicts among the various trades. The models also were a vital component to streamline quality control, constructability analysis, cost estimating and project scheduling.

The Result

Overall, the use of the Revit MEP software platform helped the project team make informed decisions early in the process and uncover issues that, on a traditional project, might not have surfaced until construction. The use of BIM on this project resulted in substantial cost and schedule savings. For our Client, the use of Revit MEP facilitated cost savings by improving its efficiency and helping to minimize costly construction change orders. In addition, the software’s automatic change management features helped the design team improve documentation efficiency and accuracy.
